ITF009: FunTreks, Dispersed Camping, and Leaving No Trace

This is In The Field Camping Podcast Episode 9

In this episode we talked about FunTreks (www.funtreks.com) and their excellent guidebooks, which are great for off-roading as well as a camping resource.  The book I referenced, Guide to Northern Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails 3rd Edition by Charles A. Wells & Matt Peterson can be found on FunTreks’ website or Amazon.  I also talked about Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs), which can be found at www.fs.fed.us/recreation/programs/ohv/ohv_maps.shtml

We also discussed “dispersed camping” with info provided by the US Forest Service and the BLM.  Next was “Leave No Trace” and their 7 Principals which can be found at http://lnt.org/learn/7-principles

Download our App, where our bonus content will be campground pictures and our personal picks for best sites within campgrounds that we’ve personally visited and/or camped at.  Info that many campers would rather you not know.

In The Field Camping Podcast with Chris Rodriguez is a podcast that is literally recorded “in the field” while camping at various campgrounds. If we’re not camping, we’re not podcasting! We review campgrounds and camping equipment, suggest tips and advice, and go on camping-related soapbox rants. If you have any questions or comments, leave a voicemail (720)440-1080 or email chris@inthefieldcamping.com
